- 1/2 cup Broken Rice finely ground or coarsely broken; you can also use basmati rice
- 1/4 cup Rolled Oats
Dairy & Sweetener
Spices
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon ground
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder also known as elaichi powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt enhances the sweetness
Garnish (Optional)
- 1 tbsp Walnuts kernels, chopped
- 1 tbsp Raisins
- 1 tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
- 2 cup Water for boiling the rice
Instructions
Prepare the Rice
- Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Add the broken rice and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until soft and cooked through.
Cook the Kheer
- Add the milk to the cooked rice and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add Oats and Spices
- Stir in the rolled oats and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the oats are softened but still have a slight bite.
