Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • Mix barley flour, all-purpose flour, salt, and yogurt in a bowl. Gradually add water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Set aside for 15 minutes.

Make the Sauce

  • Combine tomatoes, onion, garlic, salt, oregano, and vinegar in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Cook the sauce in a pan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the water evaporates.

Cook the Pizza Base

  • Roll out a portion of the dough to your desired thickness. Prick it with a fork. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Cook the base for 2-3 minutes per side, or until lightly golden brown.

Assemble and Bake

  • Spread the sauce evenly over the cooked side of the base. Add your desired toppings: sweet corn, bell peppers, mushrooms, and low-fat cheese.

Finish Cooking

  • Carefully flip the pizza. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the base is cooked through.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Garnish with red pepper flakes and pizza seasoning. Slice and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Healthy Pizza

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried basil or Italian herbs to the sauce.
  • Feel free to experiment with other healthy toppings like spinach, zucchini, or roasted vegetables.
  • If you don't have barley flour, you can substitute with whole wheat flour for a slightly different taste and texture.
  • To make the crust crispier, you can pre-bake it in the oven for 5-7 minutes before adding toppings.
