Instructions

Prepare the Fruit

  • Chop all fruits into bite-sized pieces. Chill the prepared fruit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to maintain freshness and prevent sogginess.

Optional Biscuit Toasting

  • For extra crispness and to prevent sogginess, lightly toast the biscuits in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.

Assemble the Canapés

  • Spread a dollop of whipped cream onto each biscuit. Arrange a colorful assortment of fruits on top of the cream.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve the canapés immediately for the best flavor and texture. If preparing ahead, keep the biscuits, cream, and fruit chilled separately and assemble just before serving.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • Fruit Selection: Choose a variety of fruits with contrasting colors and textures for visual appeal and flavor complexity. Berries, melon, and kiwi are excellent choices.
  • Cream Choice: For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of whipped topping. Lightly sweetened whipped cream complements the fruit beautifully.
  • Prevent Soggy Biscuits: Toasting the biscuits is crucial, especially if using softer fruits. Alternatively, you can use a slightly firmer biscuit variety.
  • Make Ahead Tip: Prepare the fruit and cream in advance, storing them separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Assemble the canapés just before serving to maintain freshness and prevent the biscuits from getting soggy.
