Ingredients
Wrappers
- 1 package Rice Paper Wrappers
Filling
- 1 package Ready-To-Fry Kebabs Or Nuggets about 4, or one per roll
- 1 large Carrot julienned
- 1 large Zucchini julienned
- 4-6 Lettuce Leaves washed and cleaned
Instructions
- Dip each rice paper wrapper into the warm water for a few seconds until softened. This makes the wrapper pliable for rolling.
- Lay the softened rice paper wrapper flat on a clean surface. Arrange a portion of the filling ingredients—kebab or nugget, carrot, zucchini, and lettuce—horizontally across the bottom third of the wrapper, leaving a small margin on the sides.
- Gently lift the bottom edge of the rice paper over the filling and tuck it in snugly. Fold in the sides of the wrapper and continue rolling upwards to create a tight cylinder.
- Set the finished roll aside. As the rice paper dries, it will seal itself and become even softer.
- Serve the fresh rice paper rolls immediately with soy sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For added crunch and flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like mint, Thai basil, or cilantro to the rolls. Layer them with the vegetables before wrapping for vibrant bursts of aroma in every bite.
- If you want the rolls to hold together better and avoid tearing, briefly dip each rice paper sheet in warm water just until pliable, then lay it on a damp towel and assemble your fillings quickly. Over-soaking can make the paper too delicate to handle.
- To make these rolls vegan, simply substitute the kebabs or nuggets with marinated tofu, tempeh strips, or even seasoned mushrooms for a savory, protein-rich alternative.
- Serve the finished rolls with a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce like nuoc cham (a mix of fish sauce, lime, sugar, and chili) or a creamy peanut hoisin sauce for a more indulgent flavor pairing.
Expert Tips
- Prepare all your fillings and dipping sauces in advance to streamline the rolling process. This will prevent the rice paper from drying out while you're gathering ingredients.
- Don't overfill the rolls, as this can make them difficult to close and prone to bursting. Aim for a snug but not overly tight wrap.
- For a visually appealing presentation, arrange the finished rolls on a platter garnished with fresh herbs and a small bowl of dipping sauce.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover summer rolls in an airtight container lined with a damp paper towel in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The paper towel will help prevent them from drying out.
