Ingredients
For the Tofu
- 200 gm Tofu firm, pressed to remove excess water
- 150 ml Vegetable Oil for deep frying
For the Tomato Sauce

- 2 tbsp Spring Onions finely chopped
- 3 Cherry Tomatoes halved
Instructions
Prepare the Tofu
- Press the firm tofu gently between paper towels to remove excess water. Cut the tofu into 1/2-inch thick rectangular blocks.
Deep Fry the Tofu
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the tofu blocks and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare the Tomato Sauce
- Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Cool slightly, then peel and finely chop. In a frying pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and saute the minced garlic for 30 seconds.
Simmer the Sauce
- Add the chopped tomatoes, dark soy sauce, sugar, and salt to the pan. Add a splash of water to adjust the sauce consistency. Simmer for 2-3 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
Combine and Serve
- Add the crispy fried tofu to the simmering tomato sauce and gently mix. Allow the tofu to absorb the sauce, cooking until any excess liquid evaporates. Garnish with chopped spring onions and halved cherry tomatoes. Serve immediately and enjoy!
