Ingredients
For the Donuts
- 1 can Refrigerated Biscuit Dough 8 count, such as pillsbury grand home style buttermilk biscuits
- 2 cup Vegetable Oil for frying
For the Glaze
- 1 cup Sugar powdered
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
Prepare the Donuts
- Heat 2 cups of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove biscuits from can. Use a small cookie cutter or knife to cut a hole in the center of each biscuit.
Fry the Donuts
- Carefully place 2-3 biscuits (and donut holes) at a time into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown, flipping carefully with a spatula. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.
Make the Glaze
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, honey, water, and vanilla extract until smooth. If too thick, add a little more water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Glaze and Serve
- Dip each fried donut into the glaze, letting excess drip off. Place on a wire rack to allow glaze to set. Sprinkle with extra powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Biscuit Donuts
- Oil Temperature is Key: Use a candy thermometer to maintain the oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for even cooking and golden-brown donuts.
- Don't Overcrowd the Pan: Fry the donuts in batches to ensure even browning and prevent the oil temperature from dropping too much.
- Get Creative with Toppings: Experiment with different glazes, such as chocolate, cinnamon, or lemon. You can also add sprinkles, chopped nuts, or drizzled melted chocolate.
- Make it a Family Affair: This recipe is a great activity for kids to help with! They can help cut out the donuts, fry them (with supervision), and glaze them.
