Instructions

Preheat & Chill

  • Set oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two baking sheets and chill in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.

Make the Dough

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

Flavor the Dough

  • Divide the dough into four equal portions. Add your chosen flavoring to each portion (Cinnamon, Lemon Zest, Espresso Powder, or Almond Extract).

Fill the Cookie Press

  • Fill your cookie press with one flavored dough at a time. Select your desired disk attachment.

Bake the Cookies

  • Pipe the cookies onto the chilled baking sheets, leaving some space between each. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. (15 minutes for extra crunch!)

Cool & Decorate

  • Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar, frost, or dip in melted chocolate as desired.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Spritz Cookies

  • For even baking, ensure your dough is evenly distributed in the cookie press.
  • Don't overbake! Slightly underbaked cookies will be softer, while overbaked ones will be dry and brittle.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before piping for firmer cookies that hold their shape better.
  • Get creative with your toppings! Try sprinkles, chopped nuts, or even a drizzle of melted white chocolate.
