Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour plus more for dusting
- 1 cup Sugar powdered
- 10 Oreo Cookies for blending into batter and topping
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk warmed
- 1 tsp Active Yeast dry
- 50 grams Butter softened, unsalted
Glaze & Topping
- 1 cup Chocolate melted, white
- 2 Oreo Cookies finely crushed, for topping
- 1/4 cup Oreo Cream Filling for pink glaze, optional, pink
Other
- Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
Prepare the Oreo Crumbs
- Crush 8 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. Set aside 2 cookies for garnish.
Activate the Yeast
- In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of warmed milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture, and let it stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Combine Wet Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining milk, softened butter, and remaining sugar until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry
- Add the yeast mixture and wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Stir in the crushed Oreo crumbs.
Knead and Rise
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Donuts
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter (or a biscuit cutter and a smaller round cutter to make the hole) to cut out the donuts. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Second Rise
- Cover the donuts with plastic wrap and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Fry the Donuts
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the donuts for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
Make the Glaze
- Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. If desired, stir in the pink Oreo cream for a pink glaze.
Glaze and Decorate
- Dip the cooled donuts into the melted chocolate, then sprinkle with crushed Oreo crumbs. Garnish with additional crushed Oreo cookies and serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Oreo Donuts
- For perfectly even donuts, use a kitchen scale to measure ingredients, ensuring consistent rise and texture.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying; fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and achieve evenly browned donuts.
- If your glaze is too thick, thin it with a little bit of milk or shortening.
- Get creative with toppings! Try sprinkles, chocolate chips, or even chopped nuts for extra flavor and visual appeal.
