Ingredients
 

Dals & Legumes

  • 1 cup Mung Bean split yellow mung beans, yellow
  • 1 cup Mung Bean split green mung beans, green
  • 1 cup Split Chickpea split chickpeas, also known as channe ki dal
  • 1 cup Lobia black-eyed peas

Prepare the Dals

  • Soak the yellow moong dal, green moong dal, chana dal, and lobia separately in water overnight. Drain completely and pat dry.

Fry the Aromatics and Nuts

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan. Add curry leaves and green chilies; sauté briefly. Remove and set aside. Add peanuts; fry until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.

Dry Roast the Dals

  • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp oil. Dry roast each dal separately until lightly browned. Set aside.

Combine and Season

  • In a large bowl, combine all the roasted dals, lobia, peanuts, and sesame seeds. Add the fried curry leaves, garlic, green chilies, salt, chaat masala, and black salt. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.

Store and Enjoy

  • Transfer the chivada to an airtight container. Allow it to cool completely before storing. Enjoy as a snack!
