Ingredients
Vegetables
- 1 bowl Vegetables (such as potatoes, and beans), carrots, cauliflower, mixed, peas
Spices and Herbs
- 2 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds roasted
- 1 Chili chopped, green
- 1/2 bunch Coriander chopped
Instructions
- Boil the mixed vegetables until tender. Drain well and grate them.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated vegetables, salt, chaat masala, roasted cumin seeds, chopped green chili, and chopped cilantro.
- Take a handful of the vegetable mixture and shape it into a round patty. Coating the tikki with oats adds a satisfying crunch.
- Coat the patty with oats, pressing gently to ensure they adhere.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Shallow fry the tikkis for a few minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. This ensures they are cooked through and evenly browned.
- Serve the hot tikkis immediately with your favorite chutney or sauce.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For a richer flavor, consider using bone-in chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless breasts.
- Adjust the spice level to your preference by adding more or less chili powder or using a milder variety.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the chicken. Work in batches to ensure even cooking and a nice sear.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
