Ingredients
For the Beetroot Mixture
- 3 Beetroot medium sized, peeled and grated
- 1 Onion finely chopped, medium sized
- 1 stalk Lemongrass finely minced, white part only
- 1 inch Ginger finely minced, fresh
- 2 clove Garlic minced
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1-2 Chili adjust to taste, finely chopped, green
- 1 cup Breadcrumb
For Frying
- 2 tbsp Oil for shallow frying, vegetable or canola oil
Instructions
Prepare the Beetroot
- Peel and grate the beetroot. Squeeze out excess water thoroughly. Finely chop the onion and squeeze out excess water.
Combine Ingredients
- In a large bowl, combine the grated beetroot, chopped onion, minced lemongrass, ginger, garlic, salt, red chili powder, garam masala, and green chilies. Mix well.
Form and Fry the Tikkis
- Add the breadcrumbs to the beetroot mixture and mix until just combined. Form small, flat patties (tikkis). Heat oil in a shallow pan over medium heat. Carefully place the tikkis in the pan and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
