Ingredients
Fish & Marinade
- 500 gm Fish red snapper or any boneless white fish. cut into 5 equal portions. fillets
- 1 cup Coriander also known as coriander
- 1 cup Mint leaves
- 2 Chili adjust to your spice preference., green
- 6 clove Garlic
- 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Yogurt or greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp Gram Flour also known as besan or kadala maavu
- 2 tsp Rice Flour
- 1 Lemon juiced
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
Other
- 1/2 cup Oil canola, for frying (vegetable, or coconut oil)
Instructions
Prepare the Fish
- Clean and wash the fish fillets thoroughly. Make shallow slits on top of each fillet for better marination.
Make the Green Paste
- Grind together the cilantro, mint leaves, ginger, garlic, and green chilies into a smooth paste. Add a little water if needed.
Marinate the Fish
- In a bowl, combine the chickpea flour, rice flour, yogurt, green paste, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well to ensure there are no lumps.
- Rub this mixture thoroughly onto both sides of the fish fillets. Marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably longer for enhanced flavor.
Fry the Fish
- Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Gently place the marinated fish fillets in the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd. Drizzle a little oil over the top of the fish.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Avoid overcooking, as this can make the fish dry.
