Instructions

Prepare the Paneer

  • Cut the paneer into 1-inch cubes.

Make the Coating Mixture

  • In a bowl, combine the cornflour, red chili powder, salt, garlic paste, red chili paste, and oregano. Mix well.
  • Gradually add 2-3 tablespoons of water, mixing until a smooth, thick paste forms. The consistency should be like a thick batter.

Coat and Marinate the Paneer

  • Add the paneer cubes to the coating mixture and toss gently to coat each cube evenly. Ensure all pieces are fully covered.
  • Let the paneer marinate in the mixture for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Cook the Garlic Paneer

  • Heat the butter (or oil) in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  • Carefully add the coated paneer cubes to the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd it. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the paneer is golden brown and crispy. Flip the pieces halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Remove from heat and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Garlic Paneer

  • For extra crispy paneer, you can lightly press the cubes between paper towels after coating to remove excess moisture.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the paneer. This will ensure even browning and prevent steaming.
  • Feel free to experiment with other spices and herbs to customize the flavor profile. Try adding cumin powder, coriander powder, or garam masala.
  • Serve immediately for the best crispy texture. If you need to keep it warm, do so in a low oven to avoid sogginess.
