Ingredients
For the Kababs
- 4 slices Bread use any type of bread; stale bread works well.
- 250 gm Chickpeas white chana, pre-boiled and drained
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 inch Ginger finely grated
- 1-2 tbsp Yogurt plain yogurt
- 1/2 - 1 tsp Salt to taste
- 1/2 - 1 tsp Chili Powder to taste, adjust to your spice preference, red
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds ground
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1-2 tbsp Oil for cooking and brushing
For Serving (Optional)
- Chutney your favorite chutney, such as mint-coriander chutney
Instructions
Prepare the Breadcrumbs
- Grind the bread slices in a food processor until you have fine breadcrumbs. Do not discard the crusts.
Make the Chana Mixture
- In a food processor or blender, combine the boiled chickpeas, chopped onion, grated ginger, yogurt, salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and coriander powder. Pulse until you have a coarse paste, not a completely smooth puree.
Combine and Shape
- Mix the bread crumbs and chana paste thoroughly. Add 1-2 tbsp of oil and mix again to bind everything together. Shape the mixture into small kababs. Brush the kababs lightly with oil.
Air Fry the Kababs
- Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Arrange the kababs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren't overcrowded. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
