Instructions

Prepare the Custard

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of vanilla custard powder with 50ml of cold milk until smooth. Set aside.

Puree the Mango

  • Peel and pit the ripe mango. Puree the mango flesh using a blender or food processor until smooth.

Cook the Custard

  • Heat the remaining full-cream milk (450ml) in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring almost to a boil, stirring occasionally.

Combine Ingredients

  • Whisk the reserved custard mixture into the hot milk, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Reduce heat to low. Stir in sugar until dissolved.

Add Mango and Cream

  • Add the mango puree and fresh cream to the custard. Continue stirring gently until the mixture thickens slightly and comes together. Remove from heat immediately.

Cool and Serve

  • Pour the custard into individual serving glasses or a larger dish. Let it cool completely in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly.

Garnish and Enjoy

  • Garnish with fresh mango slices, chopped nuts, or your favorite toppings. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat coconut milk instead of some of the dairy milk.
  • If you don't have fresh mangoes, you can substitute with high-quality canned mango puree. Adjust the sugar accordingly.
  • To make this dessert even creamier, add a tablespoon of softened butter or ghee once removed from heat.
  • For a more intense mango flavor, add a teaspoon of mango extract to the custard mixture.
