Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Best Mysore Chutney

  • For a smoother chutney, strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve after blending.
  • Adjust the amount of red chilies to control the level of spiciness according to your preference. Start with fewer chilies and add more as needed.
  • Roasting the chana dal enhances its nutty flavor and gives the chutney a richer taste. If omitting, ensure your chana dal is still dry and not damp.
  • For a more intense flavor, consider adding a small piece of tamarind (about 1/2 inch) to the blender along with the other ingredients.
