Ingredients

- 1/2 cup Coconut freshly grated; about 4-5 tablespoons
- 1 tbsp Chickpea roasted; also known as pottu kadalai, split
- 2-3 Chili Pepper adjust to your spice preference, green
- 1/2 - 1 tsp Salt to taste
For the Tempering
- 1 tsp Mustard Seed rai
- 1/2 tsp Gram black, for added flavor, optional
- 1 tsp Oil vegetable or coconut oil
Instructions
Prepare the Chutney
- Grind together the fresh grated coconut, roasted chana dal, green chilies, and salt in a blender. Add a little water as needed to achieve a smooth but not watery consistency.
Make the Tempering
- Heat the oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter. If using, add the urad dal and sauté until lightly golden.
