Ingredients
Colocasia Preparation
- 500 gm Colocasia also known as arvi. peel and roughly chop before cooking.
Spice Blend
- 1.5 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 0.25 tsp Pepper ground, black
- 1 tsp Chili Powder adjust to your spice preference, red
- 0.25 tsp Garam Masala optional, adds depth of flavor
- 2 tsp Carom Seeds ajwain
Aromatics & Finishing
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice freshly squeezed is best
- 1 tbsp Chili finely chopped. adjust amount to taste., green
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil or use ghee or vegetable oil
Garnish
- 2 tbsp Coriander freshly chopped, for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Colocasia
- Wash and roughly chop the colocasia. Boil in a pressure cooker for 10 minutes. Allow to cool, then peel and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Marinate the Colocasia
- In a bowl, combine the cooked colocasia with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix and let it marinate for 5 minutes.
Sauté and Cook
- Heat the olive oil in a pan. Once hot, add the carom seeds and let them splutter. Add the finely chopped green chilies and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the marinated colocasia, red chili powder, and garam masala (if using). Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Turn off the heat.

- Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves. Serve hot with rotis, chapatis, or steamed rice.
