Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Mixture

  • Combine ground chicken, egg, ginger-garlic-chili paste, all-purpose flour, paprika, and salt in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Shape the Meatballs

  • Roll the chicken mixture into small, round meatballs. Place a cube of processed cheese in the center of each meatball, then carefully close the meatball around the cheese, ensuring it's completely sealed.

Coat and Steam the Meatballs

  • Gently coat each meatball with the soaked rice, pressing it lightly to adhere. Steam the meatballs for 5-6 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the rice is tender.

Make the Chili-Garlic Sauce

  • Combine the red chilies, garlic, salt, and vinegar in a food processor or blender. Blend until a smooth, thick sauce forms. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency.

Serve

  • Serve the steamed chicken flower meatballs hot, drizzled with the chili-garlic sauce. Garnish with extra chopped chilies if desired.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For extra flavor, marinate the ground chicken for 30 minutes before mixing with other ingredients.
  • If you don't have a steamer, you can cook the meatballs in a shallow pan with a little water, covered, until cooked through.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese for variation in flavor. Pepper jack or mozzarella would work well.
  • To make the rice stick better, slightly dampen your hands with water before coating the meatballs.
