Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 Spring Onions finely chopped
- 2 cup Whole Wheat Flour whole
- 1/2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 Chilies finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference), green
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil for mixing into the dough
- 1/2 - 2/3 cup Water as needed for kneading
For Cooking
- 4-6 tbsp Ghee for cooking the parathas
Instructions
Prepare the Dough
- Wash and finely chop the spring onions. In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped spring onions, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and salt. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and mix well.
- Gradually add water (starting with 1/3 cup), mixing and then kneading the dough until it forms a soft, pliable consistency. Let the dough rest for at least 10 minutes.
Shape and Cook the Parathas
- Divide the dough into small to medium-sized balls. Lightly dust the dough balls with flour to prevent sticking.
- Roll each dough ball into a 7-8 inch circle using a rolling pin. Heat a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.
- Place a rolled paratha on the hot tawa. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side, or until lightly browned.
- Flip the paratha and spread a small amount of oil or ghee on the cooked side. Cook for another minute or two, flipping once or twice more until both sides are golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
Serve
- Serve the spring onion parathas hot with your favorite accompaniment such as pickle, yogurt, or a cup of tea.

Expert Tips for Perfect Spring Onion Parathas
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds) to the dough.
- Don't overcrowd the tawa; cook the parathas in batches to ensure even cooking.
- If the dough feels too dry, add a little more water, a teaspoon at a time.
- For a crispier paratha, cook it on a slightly higher flame after applying oil/ghee.
