- 1 Bell Peppers bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 Carrot thinly sliced
- 4 Chili finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference), green
Spices & Seasonings
Sauce
- 4 tbsp Tomato Ketchup or tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp Chili Sauce adjust to taste, green, optional
Instructions
Prepare the Bread
- Cut the edges off the bread slices and cut them into bite-sized squares. Lightly toast the bread pieces in a non-stick pan until lightly golden. Set aside.
Sauté the Aromatics
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Cook the Vegetables
- Add the diced onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and lightly pink. Add the thinly sliced carrots and chopped green chilies. Sauté for another minute.
Add the Capsicum
- Stir in the diced capsicum (bell pepper). Cook for 1 minute, being careful not to overcook; you want it to retain its crunch.
Make the Sauce
- Add the red chili powder, black pepper, salt, vinegar, tomato ketchup (or sauce), green chili sauce (if using), and soy sauce. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Combine and Serve
- Add the toasted bread pieces to the pan. Gently mix everything together, ensuring the bread is evenly coated with the vegetable mixture. Cook for another minute, allowing the bread to absorb the flavors.
Garnish and Enjoy
- Garnish with chopped spring onions (optional) and serve hot. Enjoy your Spicy Chilly Bread with a cup of tea or coffee!
