  • You can also chill the shikanji in the refrigerator.

Recipe Notes

You can add mint to give it a refreshing flavour.

Additional Tips

  • For an extra burst of flavor and aroma, lightly toast whole cumin seeds before grinding them into a powder—this intensifies their earthy taste and gives your Shikanji a distinctive edge.
  • If you prefer a chilled, slushy texture, blend the lemonade with ice cubes instead of simply adding them, creating a frosty Shikanji perfect for especially hot days.
  • For a unique twist, muddle a few fresh basil or tulsi (holy basil) leaves with the mint—this adds herbal complexity and a soothing undertone to the drink.
  • Shikanji can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to two days; just add ice and mint leaves right before serving to maintain their freshness and aroma.
