Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For a more intense flavor, crush the roasted fennel seeds lightly with a mortar and pestle before steeping, allowing the essential oils to infuse the water more effectively.
  • If you prefer a less sweet and more herbal drink, replace powdered sugar with a drizzle of honey or a splash of fresh lemon juice for a tangy twist that complements fennel’s natural sweetness.
  • Chill the drink for at least an hour before serving, then garnish with a few whole roasted fennel seeds and a sprig of fresh mint for an attractive, aromatic presentation.
  • To enhance the digestive benefits, consider adding a pinch of roasted cumin powder or a few basil leaves, both of which are commonly paired with fennel in Indian digestive beverages.
