Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 3 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 3 Tbsp Milk Powder
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1.5 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Active Yeast dry
- 1 Tbsp Fennel Seeds
Topping
- 2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, milk powder, sugar, salt, active dry yeast, and fennel seeds.
- Add the melted butter (or oil) to the dry ingredients.
- Gradually add the warm water while mixing to form a dough. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. This develops the gluten for a chewy texture.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm, dark place for about 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Divide the risen dough into four equal portions.
- Divide each portion into four smaller pieces. Roll each piece into a long, thin stick about 1/2 inch in diameter.
- Arrange the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each breadstick with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, cover loosely with parchment paper, and return to the oven for another 12-15 minutes. This two-stage baking process ensures a crispy exterior.
- Bake until the breadsticks are golden brown and crunchy. Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with mint tea or your favorite cheese.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- For a sweeter version, add more sugar to the dough.
- Enhance the flavor by adding black seeds along with the fennel seeds.
- For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat flour for plain flour.
Expert Tips
- For a softer breadstick, lightly brush the dough with olive oil before baking.
- Experiment with different toppings like parmesan cheese, garlic powder, or onion flakes.
- If using active dry yeast, ensure it's fresh and proof it in warm water with a pinch of sugar before adding it to the dough.
Storage Instructions
- Store cooled Bosomat in an airtight container with a silica gel packet or a small cloth bag of uncooked rice to help maintain their crispiness for up to a week.
