Ingredients
Fish Roe
- 250 gm Fish Roe
Marinade
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Aromatics
- 1 tbsp Onion Paste
- 1 tsp Ginger Paste
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
Spices
- 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
Other Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Oil for shallow frying
- 2 Chilies green, slit lengthwise
- 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves chopped, fresh
- 1/2 cup Water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the fish roe with turmeric powder, salt, and lemon juice. This helps to remove any fishy odor and impart flavor.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the marinated fish roe until lightly golden. Set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the onion, ginger, and garlic pastes until fragrant and lightly browned. This builds the flavor base of the curry.
- Add the tomato paste and cook for a minute. Then, add the coriander powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Sauté for another minute until the spices release their aroma. This blooming of spices enhances their flavor.
- Gently add the fried fish roe to the pan. Season with salt to taste. Pour in the water, bring to a simmer, and then cover the pan.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens slightly. Covering the pan traps steam and ensures the fish roe cooks through evenly.
- Stir in the slit green chilies and chopped fresh coriander leaves. These add a final touch of freshness and vibrancy.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or warm chapati.
