Ingredients
Fish & Marinade
- 400 gm Fish Fillets bhetki, catla, rohu, or mackerel work well. cut into 2-inch pieces.
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder haldi
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
Coriander Paste
- 2 cup Coriander dhania, tightly packed stems and leaves
- 1 medium Onion chopped
- 12 clove Garlic
- 3 Chilies adjust to taste, green
- 3 Tomatoes large, roughly chopped
- 2 tsp Cumin Seeds jeera
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri Chili Powder red
Other Ingredients
- 4 tbsp Mustard Oil
- 2 cup Water
- 1 tsp Cumin optional, adds depth of flavour, ground
Instructions
Prepare the Fish
- Wash fish fillets thoroughly. Mix with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside.
Make the Coriander Paste
- Combine coriander (stems and leaves), onion, garlic, green chilies, tomatoes, cumin seeds, and Kashmiri chili powder in a blender or food processor. Blend into a smooth paste.
Fry the Fish
- Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot enough, add the marinated fish fillets and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from pan and set aside.
Cook the Curry
- In the same pan, sauté the coriander paste for 2 minutes until fragrant. Add ground cumin if using. Stir well.
Simmer and Combine
- Add water, bring to a boil, and then reduce heat to a simmer for 5 minutes. Adjust salt to taste. Gently add the fried fish fillets to the curry and cook for 1 minute, ensuring the fish is heated through. Do not overcook.
Serve
- Serve hot with rice or your preferred side dish.
