Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle a mixture of toasted oats and finely chopped nuts (like almonds or hazelnuts) over the donuts immediately after glazing.
  • If you prefer a denser donut, substitute half of the wheat flour with spelt or rye flour, which also adds a subtle earthy flavor that pairs well with honey and cocoa.
  • To make a vegan version, replace honey with maple syrup or agave nectar and ensure you use a plant-based chocolate or cocoa powder without milk additives.
  • For a visually appealing finish, drizzle with a contrasting glaze—try a simple vanilla glaze on chocolate donuts and a light chocolate drizzle on vanilla donuts.
