Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour also known as maida
- 1/2 cup Sugar granulated
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Instructions
Prepare the Dry Ingredients
- Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into a large bowl. Add the granulated sugar and whisk to combine thoroughly.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Gradually pour the melted clarified butter (ghee) into the flour mixture, stirring constantly with a fork or your hands until the dough starts to come together. If needed, add 2-3 tablespoons of water (or milk) a little at a time until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
Rest the Dough
- Form the dough into a ball, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest at room temperature for at least 10 minutes. This allows the gluten to relax, resulting in tender biscuits.
Shape and Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or a knife to cut out small rounds. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each biscuit.
Baking Instructions
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The biscuits should remain pale in the center; overbaking will make them hard. Keep a close eye on them during the last few minutes of baking.
Cool and Serve
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the biscuits cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite beverage.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Ghee Biscuits
- For extra flavor, use high-quality ghee.
- Don't overmix the dough; overmixing will result in tough biscuits.
- If the dough is too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time until it comes together.
- For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
