Ingredients
For the Mango Puree
For the Poori Dough
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour whole
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Oil for the dough
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
Prepare the Mango Puree
- Peel and chop the mango. Blend the mango with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of water until you have a smooth puree.
Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add the mango puree, mixing with your hands until a soft dough forms. Add a little more puree if needed to achieve the right consistency.
Knead and Rest
- Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the dough and knead well to incorporate it. Let the dough rest for at least 5 minutes.
Shape and Roll
- Divide the dough into small, equal-sized portions. Roll each portion into a thin, round circle using a rolling pin.
Fry the Poori
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat. Carefully drop the rolled dough circles into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
Cook Until Golden Brown
- Fry the pooris until they puff up and turn a beautiful golden brown color, flipping them to cook evenly on both sides.
Drain and Serve
- Remove the fried pooris from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot as a breakfast or tea-time snack. Enjoy with Mango Chutney or Mango Pulp!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Mango Poori
- For a sweeter poori, increase the amount of sugar in both the puree and the dough.
- If the dough is too sticky, add a little more whole wheat flour until it becomes manageable.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the pooris, as this will lower the oil temperature and result in oily pooris.
- Adjust the frying temperature as needed; medium-high heat works best for achieving crispy, golden-brown pooris.
