- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper black
- 1/4 tsp Oregano dried
- 1/4 tsp Basil dried
- 1/4 tsp Parsley dried
- 1/4 tsp Paprika
Cooking Liquids & Oil
- 3 tbsp Canola Oil
- 1 cup Water
Garnish
- 1-2 Lemon Slices
Instructions
Season the Chicken
- Season chicken breasts generously with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, parsley, and paprika. Ensure even seasoning on all sides.
Sauté the Chicken
- Turn your Instant Pot to the sauté function. Add canola oil and brown the chicken breasts on both sides for about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
Pressure Cook
- Add 1 cup of water to the Instant Pot. Place the trivet inside. Return the seasoned chicken breasts to the pot, resting them on the trivet. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 8-10 minutes (adjust time based on the thickness of the breasts and if using frozen; see notes).
Natural Pressure Release
- Allow the pressure to release naturally for 5 minutes. Then, carefully quick release any remaining pressure.
Rest & Serve
- Remove the chicken breasts from the Instant Pot and let them rest for another 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with lemon slices.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Instant Pot Chicken:
- Frozen Chicken? Add 2-3 minutes to the cooking time if using frozen chicken breasts. You may also want to add an extra 1/4 cup of water.
- Thicker Breasts? For thicker breasts, increase the cooking time by 2-3 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Flavor Boost! Add a tablespoon of chicken broth or white wine to the Instant Pot for extra flavor.
- Don't Overcook! Overcooked chicken will be dry. Following the recommended cooking times and using a meat thermometer will prevent this.
