Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For a dramatic layered effect, gently pour the sodas (Sprite and Mirinda) down the back of a spoon over the syrups and ice cream—this slows the mixing and helps create distinct color bands.
  • To make this drink extra festive, rim your glasses with colored sugar or edible glitter before assembling; just dip the rim in a little syrup, then into the decorative sugar.
  • If serving to a crowd, pre-scoop the vanilla ice cream onto a baking sheet and freeze until solid; this way, you can quickly assemble multiple glasses without the ice cream melting too fast.
  • For a unique twist, swap out vanilla ice cream for kulfi or rose-flavored ice cream to give the soda an Indian fusion flair that pairs beautifully with the fruity syrups.

Additional Tips

  • For an extra visual treat, drizzle the chocolate and strawberry syrups along the inside of the glass before adding the soda and ice cream, creating beautiful streaks as you pour.
  • If you'd like to experiment with flavors, try swapping Mirinda for Fanta or Sprite for ginger ale for a different citrusy twist, or use a scoop of mango or strawberry ice cream for a fruity variation.
  • To prevent the soda from overflowing when adding the ice cream, pour the sodas slowly and leave some space at the top; you can also freeze the glasses ahead of time to keep the drink colder and fizzier longer.
  • Garnish with colorful sprinkles, a maraschino cherry, or a wafer stick for a festive and nostalgic presentation reminiscent of old-fashioned soda fountains.

Additional Tips

  • For a dramatic layered effect, pour the syrups down the sides of the glass before adding the ice cream and sodas; this creates beautiful streaks and prevents the colors from blending too quickly.
  • Swap out Sprite or Mirinda for flavored sparkling water or club soda if you prefer a less sweet, more refreshing version that still offers plenty of fizz.
  • To keep the ice cream from melting too quickly, chill your serving glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before assembling the soda.
  • Top with colorful sprinkles, chopped nuts, or fresh fruit pieces just before serving for extra texture, visual appeal, and a nod to classic Indian ice cream parlor treats.

Additional Tips

  • For a visually striking presentation, drizzle the syrups along the inside edges of a tall glass before adding ice and soda, allowing the colors to cascade down for a layered effect.
  • If you'd like a thicker, float-like texture, slightly soften the vanilla ice cream before scooping it into the glass—this helps it blend gently with the soda while still maintaining creamy swirls.
  • To create a customizable soda bar for parties, offer a selection of flavored syrups (like mango, rose, or butterscotch) and different soda options, letting guests mix and match their favorites.
  • Freeze your glasses for 10-15 minutes before assembling the drink—this keeps the soda extra cold and helps prevent the ice cream from melting too quickly, preserving the bubbly, creamy contrast.
