Ingredients
 

For the Cooked Chickpeas

  • 2 cup Chickpea also known as choliya/green chana; fresh or frozen, green
  • 1.5 cup Water for boiling chickpeas

For the Chaat

  • 0.5 cup Pomegranate Seeds
  • 1 Onion finely chopped, small
  • 2 Tomato and finely chopped, deseeded, firm
  • 4 Tomato cherry, halved
  • 1 Cucumber and finely chopped, deseeded, small
  • 1/4 Mango cubed, ripe
  • 1/4 bunch Coriander finely chopped, fresh
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin dry roasted and ground, seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper black, freshly ground
  • Salt to taste
  • 15 ml Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
  • Optional: 1/4 cup Peanut or walnuts or raisins, roasted

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chickpeas

  • Cook the green chickpeas in 1.5 cups of water until tender (approximately 15-20 minutes). Drain well, ensuring most of the water evaporates.

Assemble the Chaat

  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked chickpeas, pomegranate seeds, chopped onion, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, mango, and coriander.

Season and Serve

  • Add the roasted cumin powder, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice. Gently mix everything together. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Optional Additions

  • If desired, stir in roasted peanuts, walnuts, or raisins.
