- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour whole
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 3 tbsp Cocoa Powder unsweetened
- 1.5 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup Water plus more as needed for consistency
- 1/4 cup Sugar granulated, or brown sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice or white vinegar
- 2 tbsp Butter melted, or vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp Oil for cooking
Garnish
- 1/4 cup Strawberry chopped
- 2 tbsp Chocolate Syrup
Instructions
Combine Dry Ingredients
- Whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
Combine Wet Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the water, sugar, melted butter (or oil), vanilla extract, and lemon juice (or vinegar).
Combine Wet and Dry
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes.
Cook the Pancakes
- Heat a lightly oiled non-stick griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drizzle a little extra oil or melted butter around each pancake as it cooks.
