Instructions

Prepare the Potato Patties

  • Boil and mash 2 potatoes. In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well to form a dough. Shape the mixture into small patties. Heat oil in a pan and fry the patties until golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Whole Wheat Buns

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1 tablespoon oil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead lightly. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle (like a chapati).
  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or pan. Cook each chapati for 1-2 minutes per side, or until lightly browned and cooked through.

Assemble the Burger

  • Spread tomato sauce on one chapati. Top with cheese slices, a potato patty, cucumber slices, and tomato slices. Cover with the other chapati.

Serve

  • Serve the Desi Potato Burger immediately while it's hot and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Desi Potato Burger

  • For extra flavor in the potato patties, add finely chopped onions, green chilies, or cilantro.
  • If you don't have whole wheat flour, you can substitute with all-purpose flour. However, whole wheat will provide a healthier and more flavorful bun.
  • To make the buns softer, let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes after kneading before rolling them out.
  • Get creative with toppings! Try adding chutneys, pickled onions, or other vegetables for an even more exciting flavor profile.
