Ingredients
For the Aloo Tikki Patties:
- 2 large Potato boiled and peeled
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1 tbsp Butter or oil
For the Burger Assembly:
- 1 Onion sliced into rings
- 1 slice Tomato cut into rings
- 1 Cucumber thinly sliced
- 2 slices Cheese optional; cheddar or mozzarella recommended
- 2 tbsp Chutney green
- 2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 4 leaves Lettuce or shredded cabbage
- 2 Burger Buns
Instructions
Prepare the Aloo Tikki
- Boil the potatoes until tender. Peel and mash them thoroughly. Add salt, red chili powder, and chaat masala. Mix well to combine.
Shape and Cook the Tikkis
- Lightly grease your palms with oil. Take a spoonful of the potato mixture and shape it into a small patty (tikki). Repeat until all the mixture is used.
- Heat the butter or oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully place the tikkis in the pan and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, flipping halfway through.
Toast the Buns
- While the tikkis are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. Lightly toast the cut sides in a pan with a little butter until lightly browned.
Assemble the Burger
- Spread green chutney on one bun half. Layer with lettuce leaves, onion rings, a cooked Aloo Tikki, and a sprinkle of chaat masala. Top with a tomato ring and a slice of cheese (optional).
- Spread ketchup on the other bun half. Place this half on top of the layered ingredients to complete the burger.
Serve and Enjoy
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Aloo Tikki Burger!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect Aloo Tikki Burger
- For extra crispy tikkis, let the mashed potatoes rest for 15-20 minutes before shaping them. This helps them firm up.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the tikkis; cook them in batches to ensure even browning and crispiness.
- Feel free to experiment with different toppings! Add pickled onions, shredded carrots, or other vegetables to customize your burger.
- Serve with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, such as tamarind chutney or mint yogurt sauce, for an even more flavorful experience.
