Ingredients
Produce
- 2 cup Spinach chopped, fresh
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 4 Chili Pepper chopped, green
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Gram Flour
- 1 tsp Carom Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Thoroughly rinse the fresh spinach leaves and chop them finely. Peel the onion and finely chop it as well. Chop the green chilies.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped spinach, onion, green chilies, gram flour, carom seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Gradually add water to the mixture, a little at a time, while mixing until a thick batter forms. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but still drop easily.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or kadai over medium-high heat. To test if the oil is ready, drop a small amount of batter into the oil. It should sizzle gently and rise to the surface.
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Maintain the oil temperature to ensure even cooking.
- Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Turning them ensures even browning and a satisfying crunch.
- Once golden brown, remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. This helps maintain their crispiness.
- Serve the hot, crispy Spinach and Onion Fritters immediately with your favorite green chutney for a delicious and flavorful experience.
- Enjoy!
