Ingredients
- 500 gm Prawns Medium, thawed and deveined
- 1 tsp Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp All-purpose Flour Maida
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko
- Vegetable Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Pat the thawed prawns completely dry with a kitchen towel to ensure the coating sticks perfectly.
- Marinate the prawns with garlic paste, black pepper, lemon juice, and salt for 10 minutes.
- Prepare a thick slurry by mixing cornstarch and all-purpose flour with a little water and a pinch of salt.
- Hold each prawn by the tail and dip it into the flour slurry.
- Roll the prawn generously in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Press the breadcrumbs firmly onto the prawns with your palm to create a thick, crunchy layer.
- Heat oil in a pan on medium-high heat until it is hot enough for frying.
- Fry the prawns in small batches for 2–3 minutes until they turn a beautiful golden brown and curl up.
- Remove the prawns and drain the excess oil on a paper towel.
- Serve hot with a spicy dip or tartar sauce.
Recipe Notes
- Leave the tails intact while peeling to provide a natural handle and a more premium, professional presentation.
- Ensure the prawns are bone-dry before marinating; any moisture will cause the breading to slide off or become soggy during frying.
