Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove the pre-marinated prawns from the freezer and thaw completely. Once thawed, gently toss the prawns with the juice of 1 lemon and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Set aside.

Cooking the Prawns

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil (vegetable or coconut oil) in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the prawns to the pan. Deep fry until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through, about 3-4 minutes, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook in batches if necessary.

Garnishing and Serving

  • Garnish the cooked prawns with fresh chopped coriander, finely chopped onion and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Serve immediately with steamed rice or warm rotis.

  • If using frozen prawns, ensure they are completely thawed before cooking to prevent them from becoming rubbery.
  • Adjust the amount of lemon juice and salt according to your preference.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red chili flakes or a small chopped green chili to the garnish.
