Ingredients
For the Fish Balls
- 200 gm Fish Fillet haddock, minced, or tilapia, such as cod, white
- 1 Egg white
- 4 tbsp Bell Peppers finely chopped, tri-color mix preferred
- 1 tsp Thyme finely chopped, fresh
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper black, freshly ground
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumb
- 1 cup Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
Prepare the Fish Balls
- Take the minced fish in a bowl. Add the chopped bell peppers, egg white, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Add bread crumbs and gently mix until combined. Shape the mixture into small, round balls.
- Fry the fish balls in hot vegetable oil until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Make the Plum Kiwi Sauce
- In a saucepan, combine the chopped plum, kiwi, and rosemary. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the fruits soften and caramelize slightly. Add the green chilies, salt, and sugar. Stir well to combine. Add a tablespoon of water if needed to thin the sauce. Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth and slightly thick.
Serve
- Serve the hot and crispy fish balls immediately, drizzled generously with the plum and kiwi sauce.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips
- For extra flavor, marinate the fish mince in a little lemon juice and ginger-garlic paste for 30 minutes before proceeding.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the fish balls; this will ensure they crisp up nicely.
- If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add a bit more sugar. For a tangier sauce, add a squeeze of lime juice.
- Garnish the finished dish with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley for added visual appeal and freshness.
