Instructions

Prepare the Chana Dal

  • Soak the chana dal in plenty of water overnight. Drain the dal thoroughly and squeeze out excess water.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a food processor, combine the drained chana dal, chopped spinach, baking soda, green chilies, minced garlic, fennel seeds, and salt. Grind into a coarse paste. If the mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon or two of water to help it blend.

Shape and Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with oil. Shape the chana dal mixture into small, flat fingers (about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide). Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake until golden brown

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the fingers are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve hot with your favorite green chutney or dipping sauce.
