Ingredients
Chana Dal Mixture
- 1 cup Split Chickpea split chickpeas; soak overnight in ample water
- 1 cup Spinach fresh, tightly packed leaves; finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 2 Chili finely chopped, green
- 2 clove Garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds also known as fennelseeds
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil for greasing the baking sheet
Serving Suggestions
- Chutney or your favorite dipping sauce, to taste, green
Instructions
Prepare the Chana Dal
- Soak the chana dal in plenty of water overnight. Drain the dal thoroughly and squeeze out excess water.
Combine Ingredients
- In a food processor, combine the drained chana dal, chopped spinach, baking soda, green chilies, minced garlic, fennel seeds, and salt. Grind into a coarse paste. If the mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon or two of water to help it blend.
Shape and Bake
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with oil. Shape the chana dal mixture into small, flat fingers (about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide). Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the fingers are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
