For the Aloo Tikki Patties:
- 3 Potatoes and mashed, boiled, medium, peeled
- 3/4 cup Peas boiled, green
- 2 Chilies finely chopped, green
- 1/4 cup Coriander finely chopped
- 1 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1/2 tsp Salt or to taste
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumb
- 2-3 tbsp Oil for shallow frying
For the Burger Assembly:
- 4 Burger Buns
- 4 slices Cheese Slices (optional)
- 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
- 4 tbsp Tomato Ketchup or to taste
- 1 Onion small, thinly sliced
- 2 Tomatoes medium, thinly sliced
Instructions
Prepare the Aloo Tikki Patties
- Boil and mash the potatoes and green peas. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, peas, green chilies, coriander, red chili powder, chaat masala, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well to combine.
Shape and Coat the Patties
- Form the mixture into small, flat patties. The size should be slightly smaller than your burger buns. Place breadcrumbs on a plate and coat each patty evenly with breadcrumbs.
Fry the Patties
- Heat the oil in a shallow pan over medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan and fry until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Assemble the Burgers
- Spread mayonnaise and ketchup evenly on the bottom halves of the burger buns.
- Place a cooked aloo tikki patty on each bun. Top with cheese slices (optional), tomato slices, and onion slices.
- Place the top bun on each burger.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Perfect Aloo Tikki Burger:
- For extra flavor, add a finely chopped onion to the aloo tikki mixture.
- If you prefer a less spicy burger, reduce the amount of green chilies and red chili powder.
- To make the patties ahead of time, store them in the refrigerator and fry them just before assembling the burgers.
- Get creative with your toppings! Consider adding lettuce, shredded carrots, or other vegetables you enjoy.
