Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 250 gm Gram Flour bengal gram flour, besan
- 250 gm Sugar
- 2 tsp Cardamom elaichi powder
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg freshly grated is best
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Sesame Seeds roasted
Wet Ingredients
- 500 gm Mawa dried milk solids, mawa
- 250 gm Clarified Butter
- 1/4 cup Water for adjusting consistency
Instructions
Prepare the Besan
- Roast the gram flour (besan) in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat until fragrant and lightly golden, stirring continuously to prevent burning. This step is crucial for developing the nutty flavor.
Combine Ingredients
- Add the khoya (mawa) to the pan and stir continuously until it melts and blends well with the roasted besan. Reduce heat to low.
Add Sweeteners and Spices
- Gradually add the sugar, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, and cinnamon powder. Stir well to combine and ensure the sugar dissolves completely.
Adjust Consistency
- If the mixture is too thick, add a small amount of water, a tablespoon at a time, stirring until you reach a smooth, non-sticky consistency.
Shape and Garnish
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Once it's cool enough to handle, shape the mixture into small balls or desired shapes. Roll each sweet in the roasted sesame seeds.
Serve and Enjoy
- Offer your Besan Sweets to Lord Ganesha and then enjoy them as a delicious part of your Ganesh Chaturthi celebration!
