Ingredients
- 1 cup Outer Layer or flour for the jiwa gluten free flour
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 1/6 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 1 Water or dough for kneading into tight dough
- 1 Coconut grated, or stuffing for the stuffing freshly
- 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips dark
- 1 Chili mirch, dried bhut jolokia
- 1 tsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 2 tsp Sugar brown
Instructions
Prepare the Anar Filling
- Pour clarified butter into a saucepan over medium heat. Add the bhut jolokia chili and cook until the butter is hot, but not smoking (this prevents the chili from burning and causing irritation). Add the shredded coconut and stir until lightly browned. Remove the chili. Add the dark chocolate chips and reduce the heat to low, stirring until melted. Stir in brown sugar and salt. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Prepare the Anar Dough
- Combine gluten-free flour, ghee, and salt in a bowl. Rub the ghee into the flour until evenly mixed. Gradually add water, mixing until a stiff dough forms. Knead for a few minutes until smooth. Let the dough rest for at least 30 minutes.
Assemble the Anars
- Roll out small portions of the dough into thin circles. Place a spoonful of the cooled filling in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch to shape into a cone or pomegranate (anar) shape. Seal the edges well with water.
Bake the Anars
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the Anars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
Serve
- Serve your delicious, healthy Chocolate Chili Anars immediately or store in an airtight container for a day or two.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for the Best Chocolate Chili Anars
- For a milder chili flavor, use a less potent chili like cayenne pepper.
- If your dough feels too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage.
- Let the anars cool completely before serving to prevent the filling from being too soft.
