Instructions

Prepare the Pakoras

  • Spread green chutney on three bread slices and tomato ketchup on the other three.
  • Place a cheese slice on top of each chutney-spread slice.
  • Top with a ketchup-spread slice to create a sandwich.
  • Cut each sandwich into halves or quarters.

Make the Batter

  • In a large bowl, whisk together gram flour, rice flour, and salt.
  • Gradually add water, whisking continuously until a smooth, thick batter forms. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.

Fry the Pakoras

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Dip each bread pakora into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  • Carefully place the pakoras in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Serve

  • Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with your favorite chutneys and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Tricolor Bread Pakoras

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red chili powder or garam masala to the batter.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when frying; this will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy pakoras.
  • If your batter is too thick, add a little more water. If it's too thin, add a little more flour.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture. Leftovers can be reheated in a toaster oven or air fryer.
