- 100 gm Sugar powdered
- 1 tsp Ghee
- 25 gm Cashews finely chopped
- 0.5 tsp Cardamom Powder elaichi, finely ground
- 2 Polythene Sheet for easier handling
- 1 tbsp Ghee for greasing
Instructions
Prepare the Sesame Seeds
- Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until lightly golden and fragrant. This takes about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Make the Mawa Mixture
- In the same pan, heat 1 teaspoon of ghee over low heat. Add the crumbled mawa and stir continuously until it melts completely and slightly changes color, about 5-7 minutes.
Combine and Cook
- Add the powdered sugar and continue stirring until it dissolves completely into the mawa. Stir in the roasted sesame seeds and cardamom powder until well combined.
Set and Cut the Chikki
- Lightly grease a plastic wrap or parchment paper with ghee. Pour the cooled mawa mixture onto the greased surface and spread it evenly into a square or rectangular shape using a rolling pin or spatula. Sprinkle with chopped cashews.
Finishing Touches
- Let the chikki cool and set completely at room temperature. Once set, carefully peel away the plastic wrap and cut the chikki into desired sizes. Serve and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Til Mawa Chikki
- For extra flavor, toast the cashews lightly before adding them to the chikki.
- If the mixture becomes too thick, add a teaspoon of milk or cream to adjust the consistency.
- Use high-quality mawa for the best results. Fresh mawa is ideal, but store-bought will work as well.
- Allow the chikki to cool completely before cutting to prevent it from crumbling.
