Ingredients
For the Potato Mixture
- 3 Potatoes boiled and peeled, medium-sized
- 2 slices Bread
- 1 tsp Dry Mango Powder dried mango powder
- 1 tsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper black, ground
- 1.5 tsp Salt or to taste
For the Batter
- 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour refined flour; adjust as needed for desired consistency
- 1/2 cup Water adjust as needed for desired consistency
For Coating
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumb
- 7 sticks Wooden Skewers Or Popsicle Sticks
- 2 cup Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
Prepare the Potato Mixture
- Crumble the bread slices into a bowl. Add the boiled and mashed potatoes, amchur powder, chili powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly until a firm dough forms.
Shape the Lollipops
- Make a batter using all-purpose flour and water. The batter should have a coating consistency, not too thick or thin. Shape the potato mixture into small, oval-shaped balls (this helps them balance on the stick). Insert a wooden skewer or popsicle stick into each ball.
Coat and Fry
- Place breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Dip each potato lollipop into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, roll it in the breadcrumbs until completely covered. Heat vegetable oil in a pan or wok over medium heat. Carefully place the lollipops in the hot oil, resting the uncoated end of the stick on the edge of the pan to prevent it from burning. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
Drain and Serve
- Remove the lollipops from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips

- Adjust the amount of chili powder to control the spice level according to your preference.
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy exterior.
- Use a deep-fry thermometer to maintain optimal oil temperature (around 350°F or 175°C).
