Ingredients
For the Potato Lollipops:
- 4 medium Potatoes and grated, boiled, peeled
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 medium Bell Peppers capsicum, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder red
- 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder (dhania)
- 2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour (cornstarch)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumb
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Salt or to taste
- 1/4 cup Oil for frying
For Serving:
- 1/2 cup Tomato Ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce
- 20 Toothpicks
Instructions
Prepare the Potato Mixture
- In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, bell pepper, red chili powder, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, cornflour, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, and salt. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
Shape the Lollipops
- Take a small amount of the potato mixture (about 1 tablespoon). Roll it into a small ball, then gently flatten it into an oval shape. Insert a toothpick into the center of each oval.
Fry the Lollipops
- Heat the oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium-high heat. Carefully drop the potato lollipops into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the lollipops with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve
- Serve the crispy Aloo Lollipops hot with tomato ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Aloo Lollipops
- Ensure your potatoes are completely boiled and mashed before mixing to achieve a smooth and fluffy texture.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying, as this will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy lollipops. Fry in batches if necessary.
- For extra crunch, you can add a pinch of garam masala to the potato mixture.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces! Mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or even a spicy mayo would be delicious.
