Ingredients
Bread & Cheese
- 8 slices Bread brown bread or multigrain bread can also be used, white
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese grated. other cheeses like mozzarella or monterey jack also work well.
Spices & Seasoning
- 1/2 cup Chili finely chopped. adjust to your preferred spice level., green
- 1/2 tsp Chili Flakes
- 1/2 tsp Oregano dried oregano flakes
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Other
- 2 tbsp Butter for greasing the pan
Instructions
Prepare the Cheese Filling
- In a bowl, combine the grated cheddar cheese, finely chopped green chilies, chili flakes, oregano, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
Prepare the Toast
- Preheat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Spread a teaspoon of butter on the pan.
Toast the Bread
- Place two slices of bread on the preheated pan. Toast for about 1 minute per side, or until lightly golden brown.
Add Cheese Filling
- Spread approximately 1 1/2 teaspoons of the cheese mixture onto each toasted bread slice.
Melt & Crisp
- Top with the other bread slice to create a sandwich. Cover the pan and cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is crispy.
Serve
- Carefully remove the toast from the pan. Cut diagonally and serve immediately. Enjoy with tomato ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce!
