Instructions

Prepare the Semolina Batter

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina, yogurt, coriander, salt, cumin seeds, and black pepper. Add water gradually, mixing until you achieve a semi-thick batter. Let the batter rest for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Dip and Cook the Bread

  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or tawa over medium heat. Dip each slice of bread into the semolina batter, ensuring both sides are coated. Place the coated bread slices onto the hot griddle.

Cook Until Golden Brown

  • Cook the bread slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Flip carefully using a spatula.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Once cooked, remove the toast from the griddle and cut each slice in half (optional). Serve immediately, accompanied by your favorite chutney, ketchup, or other condiments.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Semolina Toast

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red chili powder or garam masala to the batter.
  • If your batter is too thick, add a little more water; if it's too thin, add a tablespoon of semolina.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan while cooking; work in batches to ensure even browning and crisping.
  • Experiment with different types of bread – whole wheat, multigrain, or even sourdough would work well.
