Instructions

Prepare the Banana and Potato

  • Boil the potato until tender. Peel and mash the potato. Peel the bananas and grate them using a coarse grater.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed potato, grated banana, salt, red chili powder, green chili, coriander, amchur powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and cornflour. Mix well until a smooth, cohesive dough forms. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Shape the Fritters

  • Divide the mixture into small, equal-sized portions. Roll each portion into a ball. Gently flatten each ball slightly to create a fritter shape.

Fry the Fritters

  • Heat the oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Carefully add the fritters to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side.

Serve

  • Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot with green chutney.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) to the fritter mixture.
  • Adjust the amount of chili powder to your preferred spice level.
  • If the mixture is too wet, add a little more cornflour to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Serve immediately for the best crispy texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a microwave or air fryer.
